Maddie Gardiner, a North Carolina-bound senior at The Covenant School in Virginia, finished fifth in the women's U20 6-kilometer final in 20:48.2 at the USATF Cross Country Championships at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va. Gardiner is eligible to represent the U.S. on March 30 at the World Athletics U20 Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
